With DSDHA architects and ARUP, for British Land, we are recasting Exchange Square. Having worked with DSDHA in the conceptual phase we are now handling all of the soft landscaping elements. The project, due for completion in 2020, seeks to transform the square from a space where few would wish to linger to an integrated landscape that is a delightful place to pass through or, even better, to stop in.
The design shifts the square towards a park typology, increasing the greenspace fourfold and introducing a sinuous geometry that negotiates the complex levels and integrates buildings and landscape. The scheme is an addition to the Broadgate Urban Realm Project on which we collaborated earlier with DSDHA.
